Inspiring the next generation…

Discover Earth Camp is an earth and environmental science STEM education program providing classroom workshops and summer camps to students ages 6 - 14 in the hopes of inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals.

Angel McCoy, Founder, is a Senior Offshore Energy Specialist. She is a meteorologist by training with a BS from Penn State University and MS in environmental policy and management from American Public University.

Our typical summer camp programming includes:

Space, Earth and Environmental Science - Learn about space, planet Earth and the environment through hands-on fun. You'll build a model solar system and your very own 3-D planet; and learn all about caring for the Earth by making a terrarium and starting a garden of your own. Students will learn about outer space, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), planet Earth, pollution, ecosystems, and "green" gardening.

Extreme Weather and Natural Disasters - Learn about lightning, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and volcanoes through hands-on fun. You'll conduct your own weather forecast, make clouds and tornadoes, build your own model volcano that erupts and so much more!

Messy Chemistry - Explore the messy world of chemistry! During this week of camp we will make our own slime, play dough, ice cream, explosions and lots of chemical reactions all with items commonly found at home. Things will definitely get messy in the name of science and fun! Students will learn about the periodic table, chemical reactions, states of matter, and how chemistry is found in our everyday life.

Energy and Robotics - During this week you’ll learn all about electrical circuits, produce energy from unlikely sources, and build your very own robot!

Girls in STEM - the GIRLs team up with Ms. Blizzle to explore earth science and STEM in a jam-packed week of fun! During this week of camp we will cover weather, energy, oceans, botany, environment, chemistry, robotics, art and everything in between!

Middle School: All Things Coding (New for 2026) - Explore all things coding in an intense week of guided coding exercises from beginner to advanced. By the end of the week students will have designed their own game and animation. Students will have achieved an introductory-level of proficiency in various coding languages and styles.

Middle School: STEM Survival (New for 2026) - Have you ever thought about what you would do if the power grid collapses? What would you do if you no longer had access to freshwater for drinking? Where would you get food if all the stores close? This week of hands-on learning teaches you to survive challenging times in a fun and engaging way. Students are presented with potential real-world challenges, all the tools they need, and the step-by-step guide to overcoming the challenge.
